Description

Celaton diatomite (often spelled Celatom) is a high-purity form of diatomite (diatomaceous earth). Because of its porous structure, low density, and high silica content, it’s widely used across industries.

Primary component: Amorphous silica from fossilized diatoms

Produced by: EP Minerals (a division of Imerys)

Typical form: Fine, porous powder or granules

Main uses: Filtration aid, absorbent, filler, and carrier

Notable property: High permeability and low density

Composition and properties
Celatom diatomite consists largely of hydrated silica (SiO₂·nH₂O) with trace minerals such as alumina and iron oxide. The microscopic, porous structure of diatom frustules gives it exceptional surface area and permeability. These characteristics make it effective for fine filtration without significant loss of flow rate. The material is chemically inert, lightweight, and thermally stable up to high temperatures.
